Wondering who in the world would have a birthday bash worth $3 million, despite the worldwide economic atmosphere.Let me introduce you to no one else than,Sean “Diddy” Combs. Born on the 4th of November,1969, Sean Diddy recently celebrated his 40th birthday with a $3 million party at New York’s Plaza Hotel for 500 guests, including Jay-Z, Bono, Nelly, Martha Stewart, Christy Turlington, Zac Posen, Kim Kardashian and Denzel Washington.

The Garden of Eden-themed ballroom included a $30,000 orchid display, Diddy’s own installed black dance floor and black chandelier, and a silver confetti-drop, courtesy of lighting wizard Bentley Meeker.

There was also a performance by R&B icon Al Green.

“Security was tight and even Tyrese Gibson and ‘Twilight’s’ Kellan Lutz had to talk their way into the VIP area,” reported the New York Post’s Page Six. “Rapper Fabolous flirted with Rachel Hunter after asking Diddy who the leggy beauty was, while DJ Cassidy was working his charms on Adrienne Bailon.”

mazubaMazumba Kapambwe,a Zambian born-New York based writer enthusiastically bares it all has she switches tables with ‘Seun Johnson(Wild Black Child) and gets interviewed;unlike her usual role of being the interviewer. She takes us on an interesting journey from her early writing years to her meeting with her role model,Nonhle Thema. This “Afropolitan” has she calls herself,is building a portfolio which will in years to come, storm her generation. More insight into her plans for the future are also shared in this interview.Follow me,with the ladies first culture, has we premire The Entourage Diary.

WBC: Can we meet you?(Family and educational background)

MAZ: My name is Mazuba Kapambwe but I’m more used to people calling me “Maz” because no one could really pronounce my name .I could actually count how many people call me Mazuba. And forget Kapambwe.People twist it up so much I’m almost forgetting how to say it myself.lol..
Education:Well I did my kindergarten and 1st grade in Silver Spring,DC (I was born there). Then I moved to Germany (Bonn) and did 2nd grade there .Then I moved to Zambia (my country) in 1996 and did 3rd grade to first term(semester ) of 9th grade.
Then I moved to Addis Ababa ,Ethiopia and did my high school there.I then came to NY and am still in university (Junior Year). So Ive been to lots of different schools.

WBC: How and when did you start writing?

MAZ: I would say I started writing probably when I was 6.My 2nd grade teacher used to read to us at story time and I would be so mesmerized by stories of “Winnie The Pooh” that I just started writing.I wrote a story about a princess when I was 7 and my dad used to read to me and my sisters before bed and tell us stories from Zambia. So that’s how it begun.

WBC: Can you give us a run-through of people you write for and other things you’ve accomplished?

MAZ: Well so far Ive written for my high school paper (IB Life) ,my previous college paper (The Viking news) and Collegecandy.com .I have written for Africanvibes.com celebrity vibes section and for my own blog.Obviously I write for Jamati on a wide range of topics from interview write-ups /music.events etc.I do hope to write for MIMI magazine,Clutch,In-color.net,Sesi magazine and of course Arise .

WBC: How do you cope with being in school and being a writer?

MAZ: Being in school and writing/blogging/pitching /finding time to interview celebs and attend events can definitely be very challenging in terms of being able to find a balance .I will be honest and say I find myself drafting possible articles when I’m in a boring lecture class sometimes, but for the most part ,its all time-management.I try to write most of my stuff over the weekend so I can be in school-mode during the week. But I do get inspired at the weirdest times (3am in the morning..lol) sometimes !

WBC: Where do you get inspirations to write from?’Coz as a writer myself, sometimes you just don’t know what to write on next.

MAZ: You know for me,it was hard to find people to write about /stories to write about that related to Africa when I first started blogging/writing because there didn’t seem to be many outlets where African artists etc where mentioned .But if you look ,you will find that there is always a story. So I’m always reading blogs.websites/magazines..even CNN has a program called “African Voices” .And facebook is great for discovering new African artists/actors etc.

WBC: What genre of writers do you belong to?

MAZ: I wouldn’t say I belong to a particular “genre” of writers.I obviously now write more African related articles but I’m a college student so I can write about college,I can write about fashion /movies etc and have before so I really don’t limit myself.I have studied writers styles like Chopin /Shakespeare but I’m just ME i guess.

WBC: Which of your write-ups is your favorite(s)?

MAZ: To be honest Ive never considered what my favorite article I did was so far.Ask me in a few years.lol.I’m still trying to find my style and be a better writer but Im pretty proud of my portfolio so far.But as I said before.I would Love to write for more magazines like Arise.that would probably be my favorite article.I would frame it up in my dorm room!

WBC: Who’s your ideal man?

MAZ: Ideal man?lol..well since you asked….I cant date someone who is too much like me because I’m stubborn .But he cant be too much of a nice guy coz then I would walk all over him and then feel guilty. But he definitely has to be supportive of me in terms of my career choices..he doesn’t have to read my articles but if he did, that would be great. But I’m with someone who is very close to my “ideal” guy so..that’s all I will say.Cant give names or anything.lol..

WBC: What advice would you give young writers like yourself, especially those who want to make money from it?

MAZ: Young writers should definitely have the passion for it because when you start out,you really don’t get paid or make that much money from it because you have to prove yourself .But I would say know your reader and don’t just stick to one genre of writing.Keep reading other people’s work and intern so you can know what Type of writer you want to be..freelance,section writer for a magazine ,entertainment writer?etc…all of that? And when you have writers block, just know its part of being a writer.Learn stuff like photoshop, html, etc., because these days, being a “writer” isn’t enough.start your own blog as well because most mags are folding now and are going online so you probably will be writing for online magazines .

WBC: Who is your role model?

MAZ: People who read my blog will know that Nonhle Thema ,host of V Entertainment on Vuzu is my role model.Shes an awesome mentor who gives me great advice and encouragement. If I can achieve even half of her success,I would be satisfied.

WBC: Describe Mazuba in 5 words.mazuba

MAZ: Five words?well ill say I’m a creative ,go-getter type person.Maybe you should describe me Olu(WBC). Its interesting to see how others perceive me.

WBC: I’m I permitted to call you Afrocentric; your love for your descent(Africa)is overwhelming. How did you get to this point and how have you been able to persevere in a not so conducive environment?

MAZ: I would call myself “Afropolitan” which is a term coined by Taiye Tuakli-Wosornu.I think that being African in a foreign country makes you feel even prouder to be African because it sets you apart .But ever since I discovered that a lot of people have no clue that Africans don’t have lions as pets and that we are a Continent with 53 nations that have so many different tribes and cultures, that’s when I knew I had to do something to educate people. So my friends and I started Club Africa alive at my previous college at from that point on,I feel like I’ve become an African ambassador. And because I have had the chance to go to school with so many people from all parts of Africa (Mozambique,Rwanda,Namibia,Cameroon.Ethiopia etc) ,I feel like I’m a mix of all these beautiful countries and its only right to promote Africa.

WBC: What do you like most about Africa or being African?

MAZ: I love that we are a people who are so diverse ,yet we are also the same in so many ways.Like we speak different languages but sometimes you can hear the similarities in some words.I love that we are blessed with rhythm. No one can shake their hips better than us.We have the best food.(hello Injera!) and great music. And of course we are the birth place of civilization. How awesome is that?

WBC: Who’d you wanna send a shout out to?

MAZ: Omg, If I wrote out all my shout outs it would take like a whole blog to do.But I would thank everyone who has supported me by reading my articles/blogs etc..watching the Jamati videos on the channel etc.that includes my family/my worldly friends,mentors,professors/ club Africa/Jamati family etc…I cant say names coz I don’t want people to get mad at me for not mentioning them.

WBC: Where do we get to read more of your writings and see your works?

MAZ: Jamati is the place to go and stay tuned for more once I get my work published in Arise ,Clutch etc.And my blog and of course The Jamati Entourage Diary Blog

WBC: Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

MAZ: Future?well i do hope to graduate ,get my BA and then get my masters at NYU ,then work for some PR company in NY,own my own magazine,be an entertainment host for the Africa Channel,MTV Base Africa,JAMATI..maybe have guest spots on Channel O ,write TV shows, freelance for other mags, work with charities, start a clothing line..then way down the line (7, 8 ,9 years from now):marry someone who loves me and vice-versa ,have kids..i already have the names ;Africa Malaika, Neeyah/Niala and Pharoah Marley..lol..and obviously interviewing more african celebs.I want to interview Corneille,Akon ,Iman etc..but I really feel for my age, that Ive already accomplished meeting some great people like Nonhle,Van Vicker, etc

WBC: If you had one wish, what would it be?

MAZ: One wish?for everyone I love to live forever and never get old.

WBC: Thank you Mazuba Kapambwe for hanging out with me(This will also be on The Wild Black Child blog),look forward to writing great things about you in the nearest future.

MAZ: Thanks so much..i had a great time answering the questions.Really made me think.

heidi-seal-leni-henryYou might be wondering why he isn’t Nigerian by Nationality, but bares Nigerian names…thought so myself too.But I’m sure there’s gotta be a link somewhere if you’d agree with me,lolz. The son of Nigerian parents, he was adopted because his parents were unable to support him financially. He was raised in Paddington, a district of the City of Westminster in inner London. He received a two-year diploma, or associates degree, in architecture and worked in various jobs in the London area.
Seal’s facial scars are the result of the condition discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE), a condition where the immune cells attack various body tissues. Seal has revealed in interviews that he was afflicted with this syndrome as a teen; DLE usually affects young people. Intense inflammation develops in the skin, particularly in sun-exposed areas, and if not treated aggressively with sun protection and anti-inflammatory medicines, scarring can result. Not only did it cause the cheek scars, but he had significant scalp involvement, causing hair loss. The singer’s condition has been in remission for years.
His wife,a BEVERLY HILLS, Califonian Supermodel and “Project Runway” host Heidi Klum is losing her last name – she’s filed a petition to change her last name to her married name, “Samuel.”
Seal announced Heidi was pregnant for the fourth time in April 2009 during his show at Radio City Music Hall in New York. At the time, it was reported she was three months along.
The couple has two sons together, Henry Gunther Ademola Dashtu Samuel, 3, and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel, 2.
Seal is also the adoptive father of Helene “Leni” Klum, whose father is Heidi’s ex, Flavio Briatore. Flavio and Heidi split in December 2003.
The singer and the “Project Runway” host began dating in 2004, while Heidi was pregnant with Leni.
They tied the knot on May 10, 2005 on a beach in Mexico.

Kids’ Clean Club
The Kids Clean Club (KCC) is an environmental club that aims at raising a generation of Physically, Mentally and Environmentally clean children across the World, by creating awareness amongst children, the effects of Pollution and Global Warming, and how they can make a change in their environment. We also go a step further to teach them about integrity, dignity, motivation, patriotism, etiquette, we harness their God given talent and we teach savings and investment.
The club was formed in the year 2007 by DOYINSOLA OGUNYE, an undergraduate Law Student of the University of Lagos. Her passion for a cleaner Nigeria birthed this idea, ”In 2009, we have grown to become the first and only ones to come up with the initiative of a Kids’ Garden in Africa.”
To combat these environmental hazards, the club recently started one of its projects- The Kids’ Garden (TKG).
The Kids’ Garden will be a Haven for Children between the ages of 3-12 years. A landed property at Ajah Lagos was donated to the club by one of our adult members.

A Kids Garden is a large expanse of land beautifully designed so that each child will have a little garden which he/she tends this will give the child a sense of responsibility
The reason we say 4, 000 for 1,000 is because we always say at KCC that although the money is important, but the people will always come first so it reflects in the way we write.

Naija singsIt all started some weeks ago with 14 contestants who performed different songs from all genres of music you can think of including Afrobeat, Fuji, Afro Juju, Naija classic pop, Naija contemporary hits, highlife as well as international R&B, soul and Motown classics.” Hot on the heels of M-Net’s versions of Survivor, Idols and Big Brother, comes the sizzling Reality series, a ‘never been done before’ competition for Nigeria’s brightest and boldest vocal talent! ”,allow me to re-introduce to you,NAIJA SINGS!
The show which aired every Saturday evening on M-net,a cable channel on DSTV captured not only millions of viewers around Africa, but a lot more around the world. Now,in case you missed any of the aired episodes of Naija Sings…..Sorry!!!!!!But hope you didn’t miss the grand finale?’coz if you did……..Sorry again!,’coz you missed the ”mother” of all reality shows. But not to worry that’s why you’ve got the Wild Black Child around..lolzzz
The grand finale of the 1st session of Naija Sings which was recorded on Nigeria’s Independence Day,October 1st was screened yesterday October 3rd,2009.The show which was gracefully anchored by Nigeria’s own Olisa Adibua did not take it’s usual turn as the atmosphere witnessed different sensations. It was one final show with multiple feelings and expectations;some people were anxious of who would be crowned the 1st ever ”Naija Singer”,some others were excited as they couldn’t wait to enjoy great music performances by guest artistes and the finalists. Not forgetting the thoghts that were also going through the minds of each of the three finalist. The three finalist as at the 1st of October were Tamara,Jon and Tarila. They however like some might pressume never strolled with ease into that position,as they worked ”tooth and nail” with 11 other contestants under the tothilage of a prominent Music Director,Kehinde Dascote Lawrence. For the records however, here is a list of the 14 contestants of  Naija Sings Session 1,2009(the folowing names are in no particular order) ; Tarila,Angelic Voices,Covenant,Jon,Manasseh,Tamara,Morgan,Ovie,Riola,Shim,Stev,Victor,Danniel Love………Write them out ‘coz you might be asked in your next current affairs test, lolzzzz.
Without taking much of your time, especially the time of those who never or didn’t really watch Naija Sings and it’s just concluded grand finale; just sit back, relax, don’t blink so don’t miss something real big and let the Wild Black Child take you through another ride of what will always remain in the minds of those who saw it like the 10 commandments on the  Stone Tablet.
An evening piled up with celebrity guest performance, brand new songs from the three finalists and a whole lot more is kinda approriate, but it was still a whole lot more than that. The show however kick-started with the ladies favorite,Jon opening  the floor with a song ”If there’s any justice in the world” by Lemar and as usual it was a killer performance which got tons of applauds from his ever faithful fans. His performnace was commended by Elvina Ibru and an anoymous chic who sat close to sauce kid.Next on the cue was Tarila who performed ”Holding back the years”.He was commended by Waje,a fresh talented Diva who’s taking the Nigerian music industry by storm and an anonymous audience.Next was Tamara who caught the attention and roar of the audience with her performance. The king of the Kentro Clan,Olu maintain was right on point to commend this beautifully dressed stunning diva followed by a male member of the audeince who asked her to blow a ”mighty kiss” which she did…..lolzzzz
Like the show was just gonna begin, the finalists also had to perform songs by their teaming Nigerian guest artiste.Jon teamed up with J.Martins to perform the hit track ”Good or Bad”.Comments surprisingly came from Jon’s Dad who came all the way from Abuja,Nigeria’s Federal Capital Teritory. Also surprisingly but respectful Jon salutes his Dad with ”Good Afternoon Sir”……..lolz.Terila and GT the Guitar Man were next on cue singing ”Truely” a song by GT.He got comments from his Sister who brought family greetings and support.Ofcourse, next online was no one but Tamara and Faze, one of the trio from the R’n'B group Plantashun Boiz, singing ”Kpokpo De Kpokpo”.Definitely with a vocalist like Faze, nothing else should be expected than pure delievery and that was what the audience got from Tamara. Also getting family love and support she was commended by her Sister.
Still on this all time ride,Jon,Tarila and Tamara perform their self composed new songs each, never been heard before and promising to rock top music charts after the show. They songs which were produced by Dr. Frabz were just tight and on check!
Jon first launched his new song ”We do” with extracts of his lyrics- ”this one na gbedu, rock to my gbedu”.Followed by Tarila who sang ”tantilize” and then lastly,Tamara, who dedicated her song ‘’stand” to all the ladies. The end you might wanna say,but before we knew it,we were all rolling on the floor with tears dropping down our eyes all in the name of laughing out loud!We were shown the Top 10 worst singers who auditioned for Naija Sings.Imagine an elderly woman, probably a grand-mother,what in the world was she thinking?lolz and other funny one’s too.The nights’ performances was however rounded-off with a special delievery from Wande Coal.Choosing from his hit tracked album,he performs ”Ololufe” followed by ”You Bad” with SID,making the audience go gaga..lolz.
Now,it’s the heart-pounding segment. The time when the viewers’ votes get to be annouced and the winner declared. With the best hands on ground,Alexzander forbes presents the envelope which has the name of the 1st winner of Naija sings. And the WINNER IS….with obvious tensed up anticipation in the eyes of the three finalists…….AND THE WINNER IS……(silence)…J…O….N….and he breaks down in joy as the stage is given a stampede by fans and well-wishers.The 1st winner of Naija Sings Session 1,2009 therefore does the honors by performing again his new track which would be released for public consumption in a couple of weeks time.
Immediately, the reward,a cool USD 100,000 cheque and the opportunity of a lifetime…the chance to join some of Africa’s biggest names and to perform at the 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards were given to the Abuja based Jon Ogah……….Joining the millionaires club sure is a dream come true for this young dude….sure you’d agree with me.
Here are some video clips of Naija Sing Performances……..Have fun y’all,it’s the Wild Black Child babe!!!!!!!!!!!

FloFolarin Jackson, popularly known as ‘Flo’, a member of one of Nigeria’s most sensational and ground breaking hip hop brands “Kentro World“, had a lot to say in this interview with The Wild Black Child.Presently on a tour in the USA with Olu Maintain, the definitively good looking dude and addict of Louis Vuitton and Gucci designers lets us in on his music career, his ”unexpected” ideal woman, and his plans for the future. He also talks about the next big thing we’re to expect from the Kentro Crew.

Jamati: Background(family and education)

I am the first of two kids (boys) and I did my primary and secondary school in Lagos state (Command Children and Air Force secondary school respectively). I have a diploma from the University of Ibadan, and just enrolled in an aviation school in the USA to pursue mychildhood dream of becoming a pilot.

Jamati: How did you start your music career?

Growing up as a kid I always had a passion for music and rap with friends in high school, but started professionally about seven years ago with a group called HYPROFILE which I formed and funded with a brother and long-time friend, Abby Abuede a.k.a. STEEL.

Jamati: Was there Flo before the creation of Kentro world?

Yes, like I saidI have always been involved in music. I was behind the scene during the days of MAINTAIN, with friend Olumide Adegulu a.k.a. Olu Maintain.

Jamati: Who constitutes the Kentro world?

Kentro World is a powerful brand under Olu Maintain’s Reloaded Records. It consists of four uniquely talented gentlemen that were bolted as a team; Nathan ‘Krazy’ Bondo, Folarin ‘Flo’ Jackson, DJ Freaky T, Folusho ‘Fols’ Borbitey, with Mr. Olu Maintain ‘The King’ coordinating the group. The synergy the group has, has made a perfect mix of classic Afro-centric Rhythm and Afro Hip-Hop.

flo gucci

Jamati: What do you think really keeps you guys together as a group, despite individual differences?

The fear of God.

Jamati: From your stylish dress and appearance can we conclude that you’re a fashion freak?

Looking good is good business. As an artiste I need to portray the culture of a neat and responsible dress sense because you would be surprised at the number of people who look up to you.

Jamati: What have you done in the past and what do you intend doing in the future, outside Kentro world?

Charity–giving back to the society and the less privileged.

Jamati: How do you spend your time when you’re not doing music?

I like being on the internet, reading, or watching soccer.

Jamati: So,what is the next big thing the Kentro guys are going to unleash for their fans around the world?

As of the time this interview will be published, our album should be in stores so the next big thing from the Kentro world is releasing one of the brand new videos we shot in the USA.

Jamati: People have this notion that the Kentro guys are rival to the Mo’hits guys. How true is this?

A lot of people say that because of the crew factor, the Nigerian music industry is big enough [to handle it]. Kentro World has a lot to offer–we are new, and would just be dropping our first album. I don’t think we are rivals, I think we compliment each other. I enjoy their music and we are cool with ourselves.

Jamati: You’re presently in the UK. How often do you come home, and what do you really love about home?

I am based in Lagos, Nigeria and I’m presently in the USA on tour with Olu Maintain. I love Lagos, the people and the lifestyle -”eko oni baje o!!!”(Lagos Island won’t deteriorate o!!!)

Jamati: I’m sure you free style….lol,’cos Jamati Online won’t mind you dropping a few lines for us. Off the record too,so we don’t get billed, lol.

Of course I do …  hit me up when ever you want me to spit….lol.

Jamati: Did you have any childhood habit you were forced to stop?

Nooo, I was a sweet, sweet, obedient baby growing up! lol…

Jamati: Who’s your ideal woman?

This might sound cliche, but God-fearing and beautiful at heart.

Jamati: Favorite designer.

Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

Jamati: Most cherished possession.

Family and Friends.

Jamati: Most expensive item.

Hmmmmmm.

Jamati: What’s that one thing you like about ladies?

Character.

Jamati: Your dream destination.

Thank God I have been to almost all the continents in the world. Hmmm, maybe outer space, Mars wouldn’t be a bad idea……..lol.

Jamati: So,where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Becoming a successful entrepreneur and affecting lives of young talented acts.

Jamati: What’s that thing no one else knows about Flo, except Jamati Online (listening, lol)

If i tell you now, everyone else would know so call me to find out. ….lol.

Jamati: Thank you for taking your time to run this interview with Jamati Online. We wish you all the best in life, and our regards to the Kentro crew.

Thank you and God bless.Keep the love coming…..Cheers!!!
